How do I adjust the speed of downloads ?

When downloading I notice it slowed down the system quite a bit

The Bandwidth Throttle option on the Server tab in the settings will slow them. There's been some improvements in responsiveness in the beta. There will be further improvements both responsiveness and resource usage in a future version.
